I recently heard of the most amazing golfer (now departed) with the most uncomplicated golf swing. I saw him on Google, bought a DVD, and a book on his life. I am now a disciple. My slice has gone, my consistency greatly improved and I am looking forward to a big reduction in my handicap.
Lee Trevino and VJ Singh have stated that he is the best golfer they have ever seen. Tom Watson said that he is perhaps the best striker of the golf ball…ever. Tiger Woods said that he and Ben Hogan were, in his mind, the only golfers that truly owned their swing.
Who is he? A former Canadian champion named… Moe Norman. His swing is well worth checking out, and his life story is an incredible read.

Most golfers fail to realise that knowledge of the rules can help them in their round. A recent situation at my local club highlights this:
A group were arguing over the options available when declaring a ball unplayable, the consensus being that there are only two options to choose from:
1. Drop within two club lengths of where ball rests (not nearer the hole).
2. Drop behind where the ball rests (no limit on distance) keeping that point between the drop point and the flag.
One hapless fellow suggested that he could also play from the place from which the previous shot was played. He was ridiculed by his playing partners.
But of course, anyone who knows the rules will be aware that (for a 1 stroke penalty) a ball can always be replayed from where it was last played. And even be teed-up if the previous shot was from the tee.
Thankfully there was a rules expert handy, who could set the record straight.
Playing by the rules is easy when you know how. That’s why I wrote this golf rules book. As a club golfer I was surprised at how many golfers did not know the rules and at some of the unusual interpretations that came up in a round of golf. So from time to time, I will be adding some interesting stories from my golfing buddies on the golf course.
